.Chem is puzzle game with macro idle elements designed to help players understand basic chemistry bonding and compounds. The encompassing idle game tasks players with mining resources from different planets, with resource rates and quantities determined by the puzzle solutions. Each puzzle asks players to bond elements to create realistic compounds in a production line fashion, using command modules and timing to start production.
This game was developed as a third year final game, with the brief requiring a game that would aid the Chemistry Department at Wits University in Johannesburg to educate incoming first years. The project was meant to mimic client demands and how designers should engage with them. The game was created in collaboration with Liam Brooksbank and Benjamin Crooks. (Web player embedded above.
